19th c. Silk on Linen Bird Butterfly Berlin Work Sampler
Glee was very fond of birds and collected many embroidery examples featuring them. This mid 19th c. silk on linen work has a charming robin as the central focus, surrounded by motifs of butterflies, baskets, botanicals. berries, and birds. Perched on an oak branch, this vibrant bird reflects the enthusiasm of Berlin work motifs used in embroidery at that time. Worked in silk at 16 st./in. Wonderful cross stitch sampler to chart.
