Antique Black Transferware Tureen
A large, antique soup tureen with bamboo handles, decorated with birds and foliage, in black transferware on white in the Indus pattern. An under plate is included that could also be used alone as a small platter. There is a design registration mark indicating a manufacturing date on the underside of the lid of June & August 15, 17, 1877. Made by Ridgway (1794-1960). The measurements are: length 13.5 inches, width 8”, height 6” and the under plate length 11 inches, width 9”, height 1”. Minimal crazing and in excellent condition.
Of ovoid form, transfer decorated in black in the "Lahore" pattern with stylized foliage, with rope form handles and knop, black transfer T&R Boote company logo, registration, and pattern name.7 1/4"H. 12"W. 8 1/4"D.
