Rare Pair of Chenille & Silk Figural Embroidery Portraits Oval Frame
Unique pair of 19th c. chenille and silk work embroidered full figure portraits of a man and a woman. Beautifully attired, their clothes are each created with silk chenille thread. The gentleman's 3/4 length coat is impressively rendered with bead buttons and button loops over a waist coat. The woman is adorned with an earring, small necklace, and garment buckle. The heads and hands are cut from photographs. Each figure is surrounded by a matte black oval frame with gilt fillet and bubble glass.

CONDITION:
Embroidery in good condition. Color is strong. Small hole in ground on female. Paper inner frame for male figure has some damage. Wear to surface of both frames appropriate to age. Not conservation mounted. Backing AS-IS.
