A lovely collection of 7 cockle shell pin cushions. Each one unique. Velvet or silk, with wool stuffing. Possible Shaker examples with the silk ties. Perfect for studying to recreate the forms. The little wee one is adorable. The largest one is without a cushion.
Popular past time from A Girl’s Own Toymaker, sea shell pin cushions were fairly easy to assemble with a small piece of velvet or silk sandwiched between shells. More elaborate ones had gold paper trim around the edges and hand painted theorems on the velvet.
Part of Glee's collection for 50 years.
