Charming 19th c. pocket sampler of a basket of fruit, worked on a fine linen gauze ground. Decoratively hemmed around the border. The sampler is mounted on a sage linen ground and set in a period tiger maple frame.
Pocket watch samplers offered protection to the inner watch gears, providing cushioning against movement. Paper versions with advertisements were common at the time, but a handmade token of affection was a treasured keepsake.
Worked in teal, cinnamon, and blush colored silk on a cream ground, with salmon colored border.
