Rare 19th c. signed and dated sable micro beaded drawstring bag with butterfly motifs.


Very fine beads worked in a count of 576 per square inch.


Translucent and opaque glass seed beads in shades of blue, orange, yellow, garnet, rose, and teal. One of kind work of art.

Rev. John Gano Wightman, 16 Aug 1766 - 13 Jul 1841, s. of Timothy Wightman (1719 - 1796) and Mary Stoddard (1725 - 1817).  His grandfather, Rev. Valentine Wightman, founded the First Baptist Church in Connecticut in 1705, after relocating from North Kingston, RI.


Erected to the memory of Capt. Elijah B. Morgan of ship Contest, who died at Sea

March 4, 1861 off the coast of Brazil / Aged 52 years & 3 Days
