This charming Amish "corded pincushion" is all cotton thread wrapped around vertical cords, similar to the way in which some basket styles are woven. One starts at the center of each side to create the vertical spines. This is followed by the weaving of thread row by row, alternating colors to be "handsomely striped". These were traditionally done with vegetable dyed thread.
Condition: Good. No thread or stitch loss. Fading appropriate to age and material. Some darkening to thread, and one area with small rust stain.
