Stunning 14" forged iron and oak hatchel with lollipop handle. Impressive nail bed of 72 hand forged 3" long nails (missing 2 nails). Board is constructed from a substantial 1.25" thick oak or walnut. This hatchel is finished with a unique forged iron outer bracing, apparently to reinforce the nail bed from further cracks. Once the flax plants were harvested, a series of specialized tools were implemented to separate the fibers from the plant in order to spin the fibers into linen thread.
