19th c. Ladies Shoe Trade Sign Store Display

Charming hand painted late 19th c. figural trade sign in the shape of a ladies high button shoe.

Hand formed of sheet tin with the added detail of actual boot buttons. The boot is hand painted in oil on one side only. This SMALL sign was most likely used for in-store display, as it is only one sided, and shows no hooks for hanging. There are 2 points on the backside where

it may have been attached to an easel like stand.Stamped "SERGE" and "2 2 1/2".

c. 1880 - 1890

 

CONDITION:

VERY GOOD

Wear appropriate to age.

There is mild blistering to paint surface along bottom of shoe.

Some wear to back of form with scratches. 

No repairs or restoration.
