Late 19th c. knitting roll sampler or "breirol". This cotton sampler features 12 "recipes" or patterns, and one square with Amalie's initials AF. Worked in a gauge of 18 stitches per inch. A beautiful collection of patterns that would traditionally be rolled up for storage between addition of patterns.

Finished with knitted lace edging and blue tissue paper backing. A lovely historic reference "book" for knitted lace patterns.
